Your own home really is the best place for family photos. It’s where you spend most of your time and where the majority of your child’s memories are made! It’s where those everyday moments turn into memories you’ll want to remember forever.

Meet the Turk family! They wanted to capture summer just as they usually do… Poolside in their backyard! We did this entire lived-in session by the pool. This was a first for me, and I loved it! Mom and dad were super playful, and their daughters had a blast swimming. It was so special for me to photograph these moments for the Turk family — moments they’ll never forget, spending a summer day with their daughters in the backyard pool!

It got me thinking… Do you ever catch yourself at home, watching your child do something, and wish you could freeze time? Maybe they’re stacking blocks, singing a song, swimming, or jumping on the bed pretending to be monkeys. Whatever they’re doing, they’re in a space where they feel safe, free to let their big personalities shine, and for a second, you wish you could capture that moment forever.

Your home doesn’t have to be magazine-worthy; it just has to be full of love.

That’s the power of these lived-in sessions. They take place in the spaces where core memories are created, where kids get to just be kids — in the house you’re all growing up in and the backyard they play in. One day, your kids will be able to show these photos to their own children. There’s a reason why our parents feel so nostalgic when they look at photos of us as kids. Those photos, taken at home, are spontaneous and truly capture the purest moments.
