After 11 years in our beloved home, we finally made the big move. For three years, we searched, debated, and hesitated – but when we found this house, we knew it was the one. Trading our neighborhood for five acres in the country has been a huge adjustment, but it’s already given us so much of what we dreamed about: space for our kids to roam, explore, and experience a little slice of that 90’s childhood we always wanted for them.
Watching them run back and forth between houses, making new friends and playing outside until dark, has been the sweetest reminder of why we made this move. Of course, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing – we’ve had more hiccups with this house than we ever anticipated (fingers crossed they’ll make for funny stories someday!), but we’re trusting that this new adventure is exactly where we’re meant to be.
There’s just something about an empty house. It holds so much emotion – nostalgia, excitement, and a quiet stillness that marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
Packing up our home was bittersweet in every sense of the word. The boxes stacked high, the bare walls where our family photos once hung, the echoes of laughter, and little feet that once filled every corner. This wasn’t just a house; it was home for a decade.
- The living room where our babies took their first steps.
- Snowfalls that blanketed our front porch in winter.
- Sprinklers and barefoot summers in the backyard.
- Late-night talks in the kitchen and first-day-of-school photos by the front door.
Leaving is hard. But we’re excited – excited for new memories, new traditions, and a new place to call home.
Introducing New Home Sessions: Documenting Your Family’s Next Chapter
As we went through this transition, I realized how much I needed to document it. The in-between moments. The packed-up boxes. The last dance in the empty living room. The first breakfast in the new kitchen.
That’s why I’m so excited to start offering new home moving sessions! This is a new type of lived-in session – a way to preserve the last moments in your old home or the very first moments in your new one. These sessions aren’t about perfect poses or staged smiles; they’re about the real, raw emotions of moving. The joy, the tears, the nostalgia, the excitement.
If you’re moving this year, let’s document it together. You’ll never regret having these memories to look back on.
Click here to explore all the sessions I offer, and let’s create something beautiful as you step into your next adventure.
